Commercial Driver Exams

DOT / CDL Medical Exams

FMCSA medical certification exams

DOT / CDL medical exams are performed for commercial drivers who need medical certification under FMCSA standards. Visits are by appointment and are intended for drivers seeking evaluation for medical certification.

What to bring

Drivers should bring a valid photo ID, current medication list, glasses or contacts if used, hearing aids if used, and any relevant medical records, specialist letters, or clearance documents related to their health history.

Certification decisions

Certificate duration and eligibility depend on FMCSA standards, the driver’s medical history, examination findings, available documentation, and the certified medical examiner’s clinical judgment.

Before scheduling

True North Health Clinic may provide DOT / CDL medical certification exams by appointment when performed by a certified medical examiner listed on the FMCSA National Registry. A completed exam does not guarantee medical certification, a two-year certificate, or clearance to drive. Additional documentation, follow-up, or specialist clearance may be required depending on the driver’s medical history and exam findings.
